the start of my journey
hangzhou
Dear Diary,
A few days ago, I started my journey with a few adventurous and brave friends of mine. I prepared my special belongings, a few clothes and some food to eat and also trade. I had to take as little as possible to be comfortable riding my reliable and strong, black horse.

My friends and I said goodbye to everyone and left our little village. I’ve decided to make a painting of every place I visit. Here’s the first one, my home, Hangzhou, with its sparkling blue waters which used to be my favorite playground all my childhood.
Words wouldn’t be enough if I were to tell you how excited I was! I was sad to leave my family though, but this was the adventure of my life! I would never miss such a chance, I have always dreamed about finding a treasure map and sailing all over the world.
I have lived in Hangzhou most of my life, and worked with my dad out at our field every day. The furthest place that I have visited was my grandfather and grandmother’s house, which was only a one-day walk. Though my life hasn’t been boring, my childhood is full of pleasant memories. I and my friends used to play with colorful kites, and they would fly higher and higher in the blue sky. And I remember the red, orange, and yellow lights dancing under our feet with the colors of the kites at the end of the day.

My mom would watch us while stirring the meat, which would slowly cook with the fire underneath. She used to cook the meat in a ding, I would hide from my mom in the dings when I was little. We had two types of dings, one was round and with three legs, and the other was rectangular with four legs. They allowed to have a fire underneath. But we didn’t always eat meat, we often ate fresh seafood and drank dragon well tea.

I'll draw my route map below.
Now, I’ll learn about the people behind the mountains faraway, listen to their legends, stories and I’ll explore new places, cultures, I simply can’t wait, my dreams have come true!
I will hide some of my belongings along the way. The poems I will include in this diary will give someone who finds it in the future the clues they need to find my treasures.
Here is the first poem:
Here is the first poem:
FIRSt Journey
I am Han and I and my friends are journeying to new land.
I want to set free the things I’ve left behind.
In the event this diary is not destroyed,
cast my belongings into the sea to fall off the edge of the world into the eternal blue sky,
put them in the same sea
that the great dynasties have sailed their great ships,
And pave a white road for them and my soul with them,
As we travel I have left a belonging of mine in all of my favorite places.
Dear reader,
If you have found this diary go to Hangzhou, my homeland
Before the lake stands a huge tree struck by lightning
In the tree’s hollow lies one of the belongings you must take
The tree shaded hot days of the summer
Where we traveled to a greater land
It was one of my favorite places to rest
To make this quest hard I added a trick:
“Go to the opposite of a tree”
What stands before the thing of pine in just the water’s edge, five paces to the north.
I want to set free the things I’ve left behind.
